We are currently seeking a Buyer to join our Hamilton, ON team.
Main responsibilities include but are not limited to, being responsible for the planning and strategic sourcing of direct/indirect materials and logistical services. This position will spend a significant amount of time negotiating prices with material and service providers, making recommendations on purchases to management and to come up with ideas on how to reduce total cost.
As required, this position will provide assistance to the department by issuing Purchase Orders; follow up on deliveries and supplier management.

Responsibilities
- Analyze report on and recommend the best choices for international logistical freight services
- Assure daily compliance with International Customs documentation and procedural requirements
- Sourcing of materials and solicit RFQ’s to suppliers for material and services requirements
- Generate purchase orders
- Manage supplier performance
- Initial preparation and issuance of Request for Quotations (RFQs) for a wide range of commodities
- Process modifications to terms and conditions of purchase agreements
- Perform commercial analysis on suppliers to develop more efficient processes and cost-effective solutions
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education
- Completion or working towards the P.M.A.C and/or Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation
- 2-5 years of purchasing, logistics and inventory control in manufacturing (preference with textiles but not a must).
- Solid understanding of international logistics compliance’s, Custom Brokerage and service providers
- Understanding of Accounts Payable to Purchase Order reconciliation.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with understanding of basic math for UOM conversions and inventory reconciliations.
- Strong Negotiation Skills, and Ability to Multi-Task
- Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated success working in a team environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation and mathematical skills (i.e. measurement conversions).
- Proficiency using a variety of software applications (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- Experience working within an ISO 9001 and AS 9100 environment
